"The Art of Fearless Cold Calling"

Many companies start a business but then are unsure or uncomfortable reaching out to friends, family, chamber of commerce or trade association mixers to find new business.
Lia Barrad believes that it is because we are trying to sell something to our associates rather than just talk.

Just walk up to someone and talk? How do You do that?
Cold Calling is just like having a conversation.
Let's suppose that you wanted to tell someone about a good book you read. Usually, you do it with passion or excitement. You are not trying to SELL the person on reading the book because if they do not read it their life might be in peril. You just offering your insight and enthusiasm.

The same goes for selling your product or service to a friend or passing accquantiance. Just mention what you are trying to say and look for their response. Not hit them over the head with it, just mention it. If they are really and truly interested, they will let you know. If they are not, move onto the next person to sell your services but continue enjoying that persons company. Many people new to sales, especially in a multi-level or direct sales marketing group, tend to over sell, over do and become pushy.

Learn to know the difference between just networking, finding someone to talk to and a true sales prospect. Just let someone get to know you and show interest in knowing them. That is a start, it establishes credibility. If you have a business card to hand out, do so only if they show interest in sharing more information. The business card in the old days was 'your calling card.' Today it is 'if you want to learn more, you can call me card.' If they reciprocate, they are letting them know you they want to hear from you again. This is part of the art of fearless cold calling.

You will find it is easier than you think if you do not feel pressured and no not pressure the other person. The art of fearless cold calling is just being ok to talk to someone who might become a friend or colleague. Not a hard sell, not they must have this great product now or else, just talk. It will be the 'you' in you that creates the contact, so relax be yourself and the sales will follow.

Keep in mind, if someone has shown no interest - believe them! No hard sales. It never works. Do not do it, do not push and push and push - it is over the top. So, when they say no - politely say, nice talking to you. All to often I have seen someone still shove their business card in someones hand and continue a pitch. Don't.  If and only if it seems right, continue saying, "Just in case you or someone else might be interested in my services, here is my card."

The art of fearless cold calling is about leaving a positive impression and an open door to possibilities, friendship and sales.  Here is a quick slide presentation to help you understand more...
